Bruce Lee – Bruce Lee developed his martial arts Jeet June Do (JKD) which means ‘Way of the Intercepting Fist’. The core philosophical tenet behind JKD is ‘Using no way as way, having no limitation as limitation’. Whilst many people know Bruce Lee as an action movie star, in the martial arts world he is widely known as the father of modern martial arts, and the most influential martial artist of all time. He was a pioneer in the martial arts, being the first to state that ‘the individual is more important than the style’ as he worked on developing individual physical attributes and trained in multiple martial arts to give him the greatest chance of success against any opponent. Even now, decades after his untimely death people are discovering how his philosophies and technical ideas can be effectively applied to combative situations.
